Off-Road Desert Adventure Tour

Last weekend for Adam’s birthday I surprised him with an UTV off-road adventure (as part of our next Year of Dates)! And I’m not joking about the surprise…I didn’t tell him what we were doing or where we were going, I just told him where to turn as we were driving. I knew he was going to be excited because he lusts after the Polaris outside of Costco every time we’re there. Although now that I think about it, this will probably make him want one even more...

I booked the 2-hour sunset tour with Desert Monsters Tours and it was perfect! We ended up being the only ones who booked for that time slot (they also have morning and afternoon tours), so we basically had our own private desert tour! They also provided the bandanas, helmets, goggles and water, so we didn’t have to bring anything. Our guide was excellent too, so I would highly recommend booking with them.

The vehicles are 2-seater 2018 CAN-AM Maverick Trails, so Adam could drive while I enjoyed the scenery and took pictures. It was beautiful out there surrounded by mountains, saguaro cacti, and lake views – sometimes I forget how pretty the desert can be.

We made one stop halfway through to enjoy the views of Saguaro Lake, stretch and drink some water. You can switch drivers at that time too, but I let Adam do all of the driving since it was his birthday and he was so into it. It was such a fun way to celebrate his birthday and ended up being the perfect present.

If you are interested in going on your own off-road adventure my only recommendation would be to use the bathroom before you get out there! There’s no bathrooms anywhere near the trails and it’s in basically the middle of nowhere so there’s no nearby gas station or rest stop. Oh, and prepare to get dusty af!

  1. We drove by the Saguaro forest on our way to the Mayo Clinic for what turned out to be a bad health diagnosis for me. As we drove home and passed it again, I thought that the cacti looked like they were sticking the middle fingers up. I laughed and said, "That's what I'm going to do to my disease." LOL!! THanks for the memory!
