Today’s my birthday! Yay!

I was originally going to do a Travel Tuesday post about my Colorado trip, but I’m going to save that for next week and share this “What I Know Now at 29” article instead. It’s fitting for today and so true. I highly suggest you read it even if you’re younger or older.

Insta-16: Take 12

Tuesday, June 23, 2015

It’s time for another round of Instagram pictures! You can see the previous 11 recaps here

If you have an account, you can follow me at: sam_whit22.  If not, this recap is for you! I’ve rounded up my last 16 Instagram pictures for you here today. This roundup includes a bowling championship, fishing, and lots of Ringo and Abby pictures!

As usual, my plan is to share a pretty collage of all the pictures and then pick my top 5 in different categories: Abby, Ringo, Cutest Couple (Ringo and Abby), Yummy (Food or Drink), and Wildcard (Non-Food and Non-Puppy).

OK, enough talk! Here’s the 12th round of Instagram pictures:

And here are my favorites:

Abby loves using everyone in the house as her personal pillow. She’s such a sweet little snuggle bug! Although, I don’t blame her for using Ringo as a pillow, his fur is so soft it’s probably pretty comfy.

What a pitiful looking dog! He does this pretty much every night while we eat dinner. I know we shouldn’t encourage this behavior, but it’s just so funny. We don’t usually give him table scraps, so I’m surprised he hasn’t figured out that regardless how cute he looks, he’s not getting anything.

Cutest Couple

I should probably change the title of this picture to Cutest Trio. The black lab is Abby’s sister Mini. She belongs to our friends and we dog sit for them once in awhile. She’s super playful, so Ringo and Mini always have a great time. Even though she’s her sister, Abby isn’t super interested. She’d rather lay in my lap and watch them run around like idiots.

No food or drink pictures in this roundup!

This must be the year for weddings because we’ve gotten so many invitations this year. This was the first one we attended this year. It was his cousin’s wedding and we got rained on during the ceremony (I’m surprised my hair still looked nice). We’ve been to three other weddings already this year (2 of them were this past weekend in Colorado) and I think we have invitations for three more plus one we couldn’t attend.

OK, who else is on Instagram? Leave your username in the comments, so I can follow you.

Spring Cleaning: Around the Kitchen

Thursday, June 18, 2015

Today I’m back with another spring cleaning project! I’ve already tackled the master bedroom closet and pantry, so today I’m focusing on a couple of the most unorganized spots in the kitchen. Let’s start with my messy plastic container collection.

Honestly, this mess is all my fault. When I put the dishes away I just throw the containers in here and shut the cabinet door before they can fall out. So I started by emptying everything out and wiping out the cabinet. Next I matched up all of the containers and lids and sorted the ones I wanted to keep vs. donate. Once I had my keep pile, I put everything back in the cabinet in nice, organized piles.

I actually did all of this a few weeks ago, but held off posting it to make sure it was something I could keep up with. I didn’t want to brag about my organized plastic containers and then have them messy again a few weeks later. I’m pleased to say that it’s still organized!

Next on the spring cleaning list was the utensil drawer. Ugh!

Seriously, there’s so much stuff in here that sometimes it’s hard to close the drawer and it's damn near impossible to find anything. I started by pulling everything out and wiping out the drawer. Then, like with the plastic containers, I just went piece by piece and sorted the keepers from the donate/trash items. Now everything in the drawer is actually something we use and it should be easier to find whatever we are looking for.

Of course it’s not exactly organized, but now that there's less stuff I can find what I'm looking for quickly and I can close the drawer without shifting a bunch of items, so we’ll call this a win.

Please tell me I’m not the only one dealing with plastic container and utensil messes!

An Exciting Announcement

Tuesday, June 2, 2015

No, I’m not engaged or pregnant. Let’s get that out of the way right now!

But I do have an exciting announcement to share today – I just moved into my own space at a local antique mall!

I’ve been wanting to rent a space at a local antique store for a couple years now, but I could never fully commit. The rent for a full size booth can be pretty expensive and I just didn’t think I could keep it stocked/sell enough to cover my costs, so I kinda gave up on the idea.

Well, while my mom and I were antique shopping a few weekends ago we noticed that one of the booths was made up of individual bookcases and that one of them was available. While we were checking out we asked about it and they said the rent was only $30/month and I could move in June 1st. I took the day to think about it and talk it over and decided to go for it. So I went back the next day and signed up!

It’s something I’ve wanted to do for awhile now and $30/month is cheap enough to try it out for a few months. Even if I don’t sell anything I won’t be out much money and at least I’ll know. Or maybe I’ll be successful and end up moving to a bigger space. Who knows!

So as of yesterday, this bookcase is all mine! It’s the perfect space to start out and I should be able to keep it filled. If you are local and want to check it out, my space is at the Main Street Antique Mall (7260 E Main St, Mesa, AZ 85207), Row D. The store is open every day from 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
