Friday Five: December 2018

1 | Zoo Lights

A couple weekends ago Adam and I went to Zoo Lights at the Phoenix Zoo. We’d never been before, but he won tickets at work so it was the perfect opportunity to go. The lights were so pretty and it felt so festive. Of course most of the lights were animal themed, so it was all really cute and would be great for families. However, the only real animals we were able to see were reindeer, camels, and flamingos, so if you’re planning to go to see animals, you’ll be disappointed.

Anyway, we had a really busy weekend that weekend, so it was so nice to just grab a beer and walk around enjoying the lights and Christmas spirit.

2 | Christmas

I hope you all had a very merry Christmas! Adam, the dogs, and I went to my parents’ house for Christmas. My mom got me an air fryer and I'm so excited to try it. If you have one, please leave any tips/tricks or favorite recipes in the comments!

Adam surprised me with a 2-night Grand Canyon Train weekend getaway (in March) for Christmas! It's one night in Williams (where the train starts) and one night at one of the hotels at the Grand Canyon! Plus a sunset tour of the Grand Canyon! I'm so excited!

3 | Pete Souza

Back in November Adam and I went to see Pete Souza at the Orpheum Theatre as part of his Shade book tour. We saw him back in January and we both really enjoyed his presentation, so I had to buy tickets when I saw that he was coming back to Phoenix. If you don’t know who Pete Souza is, he was the Chief Official White House Photographer for President Obama (and President Reagan).

As expected, his presentation was amazing. I laughed, I cried (when he was talking about Sandy Hook), I felt inspired. I also loved that he included some personal videos in his presentation, like one of his morning routine of chasing Bo around the table.

4 | Narcos: Mexico

Adam and I just finished season 1 of Narcos Mexico and it was SO good. We’ve all heard stories about how corrupt some of the government officials and police are there, but it’s so shocking to see it play out. It’s based on the true story of the Guadalajara Cartel and of course it’s dramatized, but from what I’ve read most of it is based on real-life events.

If you have seen it, did you know that Rafa was released on a technicality in 2013 and is currently on the run? He’s on the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted List and there’s a $20M reward!

5 | Wedding

Last month one of Adam’s friends got married and the wedding was beautiful! It was at the Blackstone Country Club in Peoria and everything was so well done. The flowers were absolutely gorgeous and the weather was perfect for the outdoor ceremony and reception. We had such a fun time drinking, dancing, and celebrating the new couple.

Wishing you all a Happy New Years!
