Flashback Friday: March

Next week I’ll be celebrating four years as a homeowner! I can’t believe I’ve already been in this house for four years!  I’ve made some great progress over the years, but there’s still so much more to do. I have a lot of plans for the house this year and I’m excited to see how they all play out. OK, now let’s take a look back at March over the past four years:

OK, let’s kick this off with a flashback to March 2014 –

This US/World pin map is still one of my favorite projects. Since the original post we’ve added a pin to Alaska and this year I’m planning on adding pins to Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Italy!

I’m pleased to announce that the glass top is still in one piece. Yes, it’s survived a whole year of Ringo craziness. I still like this table, but I’ve been thinking about replacing it with the coffee table to match my console table (Everett from World Market). Although, it looks like it’s no longer available online, so my indecision might have made the decision for me.

Let’s rewind another year and look at March 2013 –

I still love my owl utensil holder, but the rug has seen better days. A light colored rug just doesn’t hold up well in the kitchen. It has quite a few stains now and probably needs to be replaced. I’ve tried cleaning it, but the dark marks just don’t come out. It’s a shame because I specifically ordered an outdoor rug so it’d be easier to clean…so much for that!

My menu board is no more…my KitchenAid mixer now sits in that spot. I still do weekly meal planning, but now I just write it on a piece of paper. I did prefer the dry erase menu, so maybe I’ll try adding magnets to the frame and hanging it on the fridge instead.

Time to go WAY back to March 2012 –

This DIY herringbone picture is probably the most popular project on my blog. Unfortunately, it’s just collecting dust in the back of a closet right now. I would love to hang it again, but I don’t have a place for it right now. One of these days…

Man, I loved this desk, but it just didn’t work for our space. I was totally bummed when I sold it, but it went to a good home so I’m happy about that. Plus I love the farmhouse desk that we built, so I can’t complain.

And finally, let’s go back to March 2011 – my first year of blogging!

As I mentioned above, four years ago I bought my house! I closed on March 11th and moved in a few weeks later. One of these days I’d love a house with a couple more rooms and no HOA, but it’s perfect for us right now, so I don’t see a move anytime in the near future.

My boyfriend tore down the built-in entertainment unit before I moved into the house and it was such an improvement. It really opened up the room. We patched up the wall and had the tile repaired, but we still haven’t added baseboards…I know…I have no excuse…one of these days…

So that’s what I’ve been up to in March for the past four years. It’s been fun looking back to when I first bought my house and the progress over the years. Here’s to a big 2015!

  1. Looks like you have been working on a few projects. I am really excited for you to visit all the places around the world. Can't wait to see the pics from Italy!
Regarding the rug, I spray mine with wait for it Windex. But you should be able to just take soap and water to an outdoor rug to get the stains out. Let me know what you will end up doing. I like the shapes and colors of your rug.
