Friday Five: June 2018

1 | Happy Birthday!

Tomorrow’s my birthday! My friends and I all went to Rodizio Grill (a Brazilian Steakhouse) last night and it was delicious! Maybe I’m just getting old, but I was feeling extra sentimental about being around my friends last night. I’m so grateful to have them in my life.

Tomorrow my parents are coming down to celebrate with me and I’m so excited to see them. My mom and I are finally going to use the mani-pedi gift certificates that Adam bought us for Christmas. I’m also excited for chips, salsa, and tacos! I decided a while ago that I’m going to cheat on my keto diet for my birthday, so give me all the tortillas!

2 | Year of Dates Movie Night

For our June date (from our Year of Dates) Adam and I went to Studio Movie Grill. It’s one of those theatres that serves food and drinks at your seat during the movie. The food and service was good and it was fun for a night, but I think I still prefer getting dinner before and then going to the theatre with reclining seats. Anyway, we saw The Incredibles 2 and it was SO cute! We both really enjoyed it. I also loved the Pixar short before the movie – Bao. I’m not going to lie, I got a little teary and wanted to call my mom after watching it.

3 | Front Porch

One of the projects on my Fall 2017 to-do list was a front porch refresh. Obviously we’re way past the fall season, but I want to share a couple updates that I made recently. I bought a new pot and added a shrub to give the porch some greenery. But guess, what - it’s a fake plant! I ordered on Amazon after hearing about it from Young House Love and it looks so good. The porch gets a lot of sun in the afternoon, so it was almost impossible to keep anything alive. Now I don’t have to worry about it!

I’m still using the burlap wreath that I made during one of our craft nights and the sign post from another craft night. The “hello” banner is from Joann’s. I still want to add a bench and maybe a second plant to the porch. I just ordered a power washer, so I’m going to give everything a good cleaning too. I think it’ll make the concrete and stucco look like new (almost).

4 | Scratch & Draw

A couple weeks ago I was sent this Scratch & Draw Enchanted Animals book to review. I was hesitant to try it at first because I’m not great at drawing, but I finally decided to just go for it. I'm not going to lie, it's not easy if you're not great at drawing like me, but it's strangely satisfying to see a picture come to life by just scratching away the color.

5 | Portland, OR

Adam and I are planning a long-weekend trip to Portland in August. If you live there or have been before, I’d love any suggestions on things to do, places to see, and must eats! I’m knee-deep in trip research right now, so I would love any and all tips!

Do you have anything fun planned for the weekend?

    1. It's the best thing I've bought for my porch! I've spent so much money over the years on real plants for the porch, but they always die, especially in the summer heat. This fake one is SO worth the money!

    1. It's made my life so much easier! I don't have to worry about watering every day and I don't feel guilty about killing plants in that spot anymore.
