ORC Week 2 – Master Bedroom Shopping

Hi everyone! Welcome back for Week 2 of the One Room Challenge! Did you all get a chance to check out some of the other spaces? There’s some beautiful room plans out there and I can’t wait to see how they come together! You can check out this week’s progress for the official participants here and for the linking participants here.

OK, let’s talk progress. This week was all about shopping and getting pieces ordered so they’ll be here in time. Let’s start with my biggest purchase – a pair of dressers!

I ordered the set on Amazon and they are supposed to be delivered sometime next week. I was a little nervous about ordering such big pieces online without seeing them in person, but they had good reviews and the price was right. I lucked out because the price dropped overnight while I was debating the purchase and I saved almost $100! It’s one of the few times being indecisive has paid off for me. If you’re interested, this is the dresser and this is the chest.

I also bought a pile of frames at Michael’s for the gallery wall above the bed. I started laying them out on the floor and I think this is the arrangement I’m going to go with. I still need to sort out the art and I have a couple pictures being custom matted because of their odd size. I'm also painting the gold-ish frames white. I have all, but one done so far. I can’t wait to get everything hung up and finally have something on the walls!

The gallery wall will mostly be pictures I’ve collected while traveling plus some that I’ve found at thrift stores. I also ordered a few pieces from Etsy to finish off my collection.

For the bedding, I ordered this gray herringbone blanket. It’s beautiful in person and lightweight for the warm Arizona weather. It’s from Kohl’s...yes, the same company I vowed to never shop at during the last ORC after a TERRIBLE experience with their customer service. Well, I ended up e-mailing the VP of Customer Experience and his office took care of my issue and refunded my money. It was such a hassle, but I’m officially shopping there again. Anyway, I’m also thinking about ordering these Euro shams for the bed.

I still need to find a chaise/settee for the room. I found one that I like, but it’s backordered until June. That won’t work for the challenge or with my lack of patience. I’m also on the hunt for a full-length mirror to hang/lean in the corner by the master bathroom door, plus more artwork (maybe a canvas of one of my travel pictures?) and other accessories.

My goal for next week is to hang the gallery wall. I’m also hoping my new dressers will be here so I can share those. Hopefully I’ll have found either a settee or mirror by then too. I hate having the larger pieces in the room still up in the air past the third week. Wish me (and the other participants) luck!
