June After – FAIL

So, my bedroom still looks like this:

I completely dropped the ball on finishing the headboard project this month. Mostly because it took me half of the month just to decide what I was going to do. And then I spent the rest of the month being indecisive about the details.
So, I don’t have a finished headboard to show you this month, but I do have a plan…kinda.
I’ve definitely decided on an upholstered headboard. I like to read in bed, so that seems like the most logical/comfortable choice.
I’ve also decided on the shape…we’ll I’ve narrowed it down to 2 choices.
This:

Or the Belgrave shape:

I’ll probably decide once I have the fabric and I’m ready to cut out the shape. I already bought a jig saw in anticipation!

So, I was making good progress…and then I got caught up in the fabric decision…
First I was thinking vertical black and white stripes.

But with the black nightstands, white comforter, black and white curtains and black and white lamp shades the room was turning a little too black and white.
So, my next choice was Covington Windsor Citrus.

I want to keep the room light, bright, and airy, so I figured this could be a good choice. Plus it would bring in a little yellow to the room. Luckily, I decided to order a swatch before committing because the fabric didn’t look good in the bedroom.
Now I’m waiting for a swatch of this fabric:

It’s an outdoor fabric, so I’m hoping it won’t be too stiff. And I’m hoping the details are white and not ivory.  I guess we’ll see!

So that’s where I’m at right now – crossing my fingers that I finally found the perfect fabric! I guess my June Project is now my July Project…

  1. Ooo I can't wait to see!!! I'm dying to make a huge, upholstered headboard! First though I have to get a bedroom where my bed isn't shoved up against a window. A window that has an ac unit sitting in it. (There's a reason why I only show 2 rooms of my house on my blog.) ;)

  3. Hey - it's not a complete fail! You have a plan, that's definitely a start. :) And I really like both headboard shapes too, whatever you choose will look great! I'm excited to see how it will turn out.

  4. I like it! I like it a lot! At least... I like the plan! The little image thingy is pretty cool too helps with the whole visualization thing. My Dad has a jigsaw and it is pretty sweet! He has done some cool stuff with it. Ahhh a chick with power tools.

    Awesome!

PS. I'm looking at jobs in the Phoenix AZ area... not that it is my ideal place but yo. i did NOT go to college for half a million years to work in a call center anymore. Do you have any suggestions for places I should avoid? I suppose I could email you and ask... but I prefer to see how long of a comment I can leave on your bloggy. haha.

  5. Love the blue, and I'm still hemming curtains, so no worries. That's why they call them "works in progress!"

  6. same, i'm thinking the black stripes wouldn't have been as forgiving as the other two choices. i like both of the the last two. really pretty. not much help on the headboard shapes either because i like both of them too!

  7. I like the first shape better, but you're right it all depends on the fabric. Good luck!
