Friday Five: August 2018

1 | Ringo

We had our first trip to the emergency vet. A few weeks ago we were playing in the pool and Ringo fractured his back tooth. He was catching his toy and jumping in the pool as usual, then on one catch he dropped the toy, swam to the step, and his tongue started freaking out trying to touch his back tooth. I looked in his mouth and his tooth looked shattered and was bleeding. It was a Sunday, so we had to take him to the emergency vet. $200 and 2 hours later, they gave us antibiotics, pain pills and told us to see our regular vet because it would probably need to be removed.

I took him to his usual vet the next day and he said it was a pretty bad fracture, but there’s no rush to remove it. He didn’t seem to be in pain and it didn’t seem to bother him anymore. The vet said that the tooth was otherwise healthy, so we can leave it and wait or have it removed. He said that right now, neither is a bad option. The was 2 days before our Portland trip, so we were happy to hear that it didn’t need to be taken care of right away.

We’ll probably have it removed somewhat soon so it doesn’t end up getting infected or causing him any other problems. With our luck, something will happen right before another vacation or during the holidays and it’ll be a pain to get it taken care of, so we’d rather do it while we’re home and can take care of him.

2 | My High School Best Friend’s Wedding

A couple weeks ago one my best friends from high school got married. The wedding was beautiful and all of the details were so personal and perfect for them. We had such a great time celebrating Hunter and Matt and we danced SO much! I woke up the next day and every joint was aching! I also got to catch up with my high school boyfriend (he's on the left in the picture above)! I haven’t seen him in at least 10 years, so it was fun to see him, meet his fiancé and introduce him to Adam.

3 | Coco

Adam and I watched Disney/Pixar’s Coco for the first time last weekend and it was fantastic! It came out last year, so I’m sure a lot of you have already seen it, but if not, you MUST watch it. It’s the most touching movie I’ve seen in a very long time. Adam loved it too. He said it's his new favorite Disney movie and I caught him listening to the soundtrack in while in the shower the next day.

4 | D-Backs Game

Earlier this month we went to our first Diamondbacks game of the season. I took a half day from work and we met some of Adam’s family at the ballpark. They played the Phillies and won 6-0! The D-Backs are actually pretty good this year, so maybe the next game we go to will be a playoff game!

5 | New York City

Adam and I are planning to visit NYC for a long weekend in October. It’ll be the first time in the city for either of us. We’ll only have 2 full days there, but I would love any recommendations for must do/see/eat! Please send me your suggestions…especially for favorite places to eat!

Do you have anything fun planned for the upcoming holiday weekend? We’re going to Dave & Buster’s for our August date night tonight, but other than that, we don’t have much planned. Adam has to work Sunday and Monday, so I’ll probably just try to get some things done around the house.

    1. It was! I cried a little during their vows. They wrote their vows themselves and they were so sweet and personal.

    1. It was a good month other than the whole tooth thing! Although he's still doing great and still doesn't seem to care about his tooth, so it's not as bad as it could have been!

  4. Hi Sam! I live in Phoenix, too! We haven't made it to a D'backs game all season -- gotta get to one! Sorry about your pup and his tooth -- so scary!
