ORC Week 6: Guest Bedroom Reveal

It’s Week 6 of the One Room Challenge! That means that today is reveal day! I’m so excited to share my completed guest bedroom with you all! I absolutely love how it turned out and I feel like it’s the best representation of my style in our house now.

Before we get into all of the after pictures, let’s look back at the evolution of this room. When I first bought the house, half of the walls in this room were painted bright pink and the other half bright blue. I painted the room an icy blue color and added the leftover bedroom furniture from my apartment. It was a guest room/junk room until the Fall 2015 One Room Challenge. I loved how the room turned out and it stayed that way until a year ago or so when we moved our desk and office stuff in there. It ended up being way too cramped and we found room elsewhere, so we decided to turn it back into just a guest bedroom, but upgrade to a queen-size bed this time.

And after all of that, here’s where we are today:

Most of the items are from Target or Amazon. It was so convenient to be able to just shop online at night while Adam was watching basketball. I feel like I found some really great pieces and that it doesn’t completely look like it was all from those 2 places…at least that’s what I hope. I was really surprised by all of the amazing home décor pieces from Amazon! Like that macramé wall hanging, the textured throw blanket, and the hanging planter! I’ll link to everything at the bottom of the post.

It’s hard to pick my favorite thing in the room, but I’m obsessed with the bed and I love the framed art from Jenny’s Print Shop! Those pieces definitely make the room. My parents are coming for my birthday at the end of June and I’m so excited for them to see it. My mom was here when it was like half done, but so much has changed since then.

I didn’t really have a set budget, but I didn’t want to go buck wild for just a guest room either. I feel like I found some great pieces for the price and I bought a lot of the Target items during a 30%-off online sale to save even more money. I also reused the nightstands, lamps, chalkboard, chair, and mirror from the previous room. I definitely saved a few hundred dollars that way. I included a budget breakdown below, so you can see exactly what I spent. Obviously the mattress was half of the budget, but a comfortable mattress is so important!

I want to send a huge thank you to Linda from Calling It Home for creating this event and continuing to host it twice a year. Without the One Room Challenge, we’d probably still be discussing if we should upgrade to a queen-size bed or not. I really need the accountability from the challenge to start and finish a space. I’m hoping to continue the momentum and get working on our guest bathroom right away. I already ordered a countertop sample.

Also, be sure to stop by to check out the featured designers finished rooms and the other linking participants! So many talented people participated this round and there are so many beautiful rooms linked up.

    1. This room has definitely helped me pull all of my style ideas together and pick how I really want my house to look. I love so many styles, so it's been hard to narrow it down, but I realized that I can love a style without having it in my house.
